How it differs from a SCAR or an 8D tracker
- The SCAR template is the request you send.
- The supplier 8D tracker follows the 8D steps of each case.
- This log follows the actions after that: is each one closed on time, how often you had to remind, and did the later check show it worked.
Status per row
The status fills in from the dates. The due-soon window and the reminder count before a call are our own defaults on the Settings sheet; change them.
| Status | When |
|---|---|
| Overdue | Not closed and the due date has passed. |
| Due soon | Not closed and due within the window (our own default: 14 days). |
| Open | Not closed, due later. |
| Set a due date | Not closed and no due date entered. |
| Effectiveness check overdue | Closed, but the check date has passed without a check. |
| Waiting for effectiveness check | Closed, check date still ahead. |
| Set a check date | Closed and no date for the effectiveness check entered. |
| Enter check result | Closed, a check-done date is entered, but no result entered. |
| Not effective: worth reopening | The check found the action did not work. |
| Closed | Closed and the check found it effective. |
Rows with three or more reminders (our own default) show "many reminders: worth a call". Under the log you get counts per status and the oldest overdue in days. Counts only, no score.
Example (fictional)
Made-up suppliers, as of Wednesday 21 October 2026:
| Ref | Supplier | Due or closed | Reminders | Status |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| EX-01 | Supplier A | Wed 30 Sep 2026 | 4 | Overdue, 21 days; many reminders: worth a call |
| EX-02 | Supplier B | Fri 30 Oct 2026 | 1 | Due soon |
| EX-04 | Supplier A | Closed Wed 1 Jul 2026 | 2 | Effectiveness check overdue, 20 days |
| EX-06 | Supplier B | Closed Thu 11 Jun 2026 | 3 | Not effective: worth reopening |
Worth a check each week
- Red rows first: overdue actions and overdue effectiveness checks.
- Many reminders on one supplier: worth a call, not only another email.
- Closed rows without a check date: set one when you close the action, not later.
- A not-effective result: reopen the case and look at the root cause again.
Your own procedure and your customers decide how supplier actions are closed. The status is an aid for follow-up, not a decision about the supplier.
