What is in the file

ColumnWhat it holds
Objective, measure, ownerWhat you track, how you count it and who looks after it.
DirectionHigher is better or lower is better.
Target (yours)The number you set. The file does not suggest one.
Jan to DecOne actual value per month.
Months on target / off targetCounted from your entries against your target.
Months not entered yetMonths before the as of date with no entry.
Latest entry and latest vs targetThe most recent value and whether it is on target, off target or not entered yet.

On target means at or above your target when higher is better, and at or below it when lower is better. Under the table you get counts across all objectives: latest entry on target, off target, not entered yet, and due months still empty. Counts only, no score.

Worth a check at each review

  • Red rows first: the latest entry is off target. Look at the trend and the reason before acting.
  • Amber rows: a target or direction is missing, or a due month has no entry.
  • Several months off target in a row: worth a corrective action. The open CAPA ageing calculator helps you follow it up once it is raised.
  • Always on target: worth asking whether the target still means something.

Your own management system decides which objectives you keep and how you set targets. The counts are an aid for the review, not a verdict.
